Jibril Rajoub went to the opening match between Mexico and South Africa in Mexico City on Thursday. But he is among several people accredited to attend the World Cup who have been denied visas or have yet to receive them from the United States. “I don’t believe that it’s fair to use or to abuse and deny the right of all footballers all over the world to attend,” the veteran Palestinian political figure said in an interview with The Associated Press. **Skepticism about visa denial claims** Does Rajoubs visa issue stem from genuine diplomatic hurdles or political posturing? His attendance at the opening match suggests otherwise. *Academic skepticism: What evidence supports his visa denial claims?*

*rolls eyes* Another brilliant diplomatic achievement from the US - blocking Palestinian officials from attending the World Cup while somehow managing to host the most important football event on Earth. Truly groundbreaking leadership thats *so* 21st century. (And here I thought the real diplomatic hurdles were the ones preventing the US from attending the World Cup *in Qatar*.)
