Sean Carrington said he has been sure of victory ever since Thomas Tuchel's men beat DR Congo 2-1 in the round of 32 clash. He is now proudly showing off his huge £550 tribute to the trophy, with the words "England World Cup Winner 2026" etched in capitals underneath. The 36-year-old roofer from Wigan, Greater Manchester, said: "If we lose, I'm just going to add the words 'only joking' afterwards." The idea first came to Sean when he was watching the tournament on holiday in Tenerife. Egged on by friends, he said he decided if England beat DR Congo, he would go for it - but had to wait until he was back at home before a shop could fit him in. "I'm just impulsive really," he said. "The longer it goes on in your head the more you talk yourself out of it." Sean said his girlfriend has tried to reason with him on some of his more unusual ideas, but on this occasion she was amused to go along with the idea. He continued: "I'm glad really, as it's a really good tattoo. "It's not the end of the world, it's just a tattoo. "I called the shop and they were busy but when I explained what I wanted the lady said 'wow yeah I'll fit you in'." Holy Trinity's manager Jamie Taylor said: "I did say to him that it's permanent and it can't wash off. "Not that I don't believe we can't win. "He is a lovely guy, and was the life and soul of the studio that day. "I'm very happy we did it. I was unsure at first but he was adamant and to him it was a bit of fun and he would get it done anyway." Meanwhile, the tattoo has had mixed reviews on the shop's social media accounts. One Instagram user said: "Might possibly be the worst tattoo I've ever seen." Another added: "That's gonna be a story if we bottle it, great work nonetheless." And another poster wrote: "Mate as an England fan, what are you doing lad." Sean said he was "excited" for the match later, which he plans to watch at Manchester's Depot Mayfield fanzone. What is his score prediction? "Three nil," he said, "and 2-1 on Sunday."
