CCTV footage at the time shows a jogger running along Putney Bridge and appearing to shove the woman, then aged 33, into the road. She escaped serious injury. On Monday, the Metropolitan Police said officers arrested a 44-year-old man on suspicion of attempted grievous bodily harm. He remains in police custody. The force had closed its investigation into the incident in 2018 after three men had been arrested and released without charge. The footage shows the oncoming bus is forced to swerve into the adjacent lane to avoid hitting the woman. Sgt Mat Knowles said at the time: "It was only due to the superb quick reactions of the bus driver that she was not hit by the vehicle." Bus driver Oliver Salbris told the Sunday Times following the incident: "If I hadn't swerved, I would have smashed her head. "It was reflex. The consequences would have been terrible for her – and for me." It was reported at the time that around 15 minutes after the push, the jogger came back the other way across the bridge, and ignored the victim when she tried to speak to him. Detectives identified more than 50 people of interest in their investigation before closing the probe in 2018, saying that all lines of inquiry had been exhausted.
