Hunter Bell, who took a first world title in Torun in March , broke away from the leading pack to win in three minutes 58.63 seconds at the Stadio Olimpico. Two-time world indoor champion Caudery sealed the pole vault title with a jump of 4.80m. In a meeting packed with British interest, Keely Hodgkinson, who also triumphed indoors in Poland, finished in seventh in a rare outing in the 400m. The 24-year-old was unable to challenge in the unfamiliar distance, finishing in 51.14 seconds, while compatriot Amber Anning finished in fifth in 50.19. In the women's 200m, Amy Hunt and Dina Asher-Smith took fourth and fifth respectively with times of 22.52 and 22.76 seconds, in a race won by Olympic champion Julien Alfred from world title-holder Melissa Jefferson-Wooden. Meanwhile, Olympic champion Noah Lyles surged to victory in the men's 100m in 9.88 seconds, placing ahead of Cameroon's Emmanuel Eseme and Botswana's Letsile Tebogo, while Great Britain's Jeremiah Azu was ninth in 10.12. The Diamond League returns on Sunday in Stockholm, with live coverage on BBC Two and the BBC Sport website and app from 16:00 BST.
