Fire control officers were first called just after 5.30pm on Monday to the centre on Landmann Way in Bermondsey. London fire brigade sent crews from Deptford, Old Kent Road and Greenwich, and two 32-metre turntable ladders. Footage posted on social media showed huge plumes of thick smoke rising high above the city. The fire also affected train travel, with passengers travelling between Charing Cross and London Bridge being told to check services before travelling, and to consider travelling later if possible. Southeastern Railway said Hastings line services were starting and terminating at Tonbridge in Kent.
